Daily Itinerary
Our representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco in our private bus and drive to Cusipata town, which is located 2 hours from Cusco. Once we arrive there, we will have our Andean buffet breakfast, where you will have different options (fruits, vegetables, meat, grains, juice, and more). After having enjoyed the Andean breakfast, we will keep driving another hour to reach the trailhead at Llacto, 4,620 meters (15,157 feet).
Our guide will provide us with all the information, distance, and time to hike, and then we start our trek to Rainbow Mountain through a picturesque path that gradually ascends around the mountains. The hike will take around 1.20 hours; you will also be able to hire a horse if you want to escape the walk.
Rainbow Mountain
As we departed early from Cusco, we will be the first ones at the Rainbow Mountain; once you arrive here, there won’t be too many people, and you can have the best spots to capture the incredible photos. Our guide will take you to the best angles; after getting all the photos, our guide will explain to you about the colors of the mountains, local traditions, and a bit of Peru. Once you’re done, you can walk around on your own and enjoy some of the breathtaking vistas, also being able to see the Ausangate mountain, 6,384 meters (20,944 feet), which is considered a deity for locals.
Red Valley
After having done exploring the Rainbow Mountain, you’ll have an option to hike to the Red Valley, another spectacular place where not many people visit it. The hike takes only 20 minutes from the Rainbow Mountain, and it is an easy walk. The entrance fee is not included, but you can pay directly there if you decide to walk through the Valley (S/ 20 Peruvian soles).
The Red Valley is an incredible place where the iron mineral has created a beautiful red valley that seems like you are on another planet. You can walk through the path and enjoy the stunning and peaceful landscapes. Once you have explored this wonderful spot, you will make your way back to the bus station and board it to drive another hour and reach Cusipata town for your lunch. Finally, in the afternoon we will return to Cusco by driving two hours, and we will drop off at your hotel or nearby.
